Information has come out about a potentially dangerous, planet killer asteroid, that has been named 2022 AP7. Even though it has been called a planet killer, it has also been noted that it doesn’t pose any immediate threat to Earth. This asteroid actually orbits our sun every 5 years, and crosses our orbit when the Earth is on the other side of the Earth to it. And while eventually the two will get closer, that won’t happen for centuries.
Key Takeaways:
- There is information that there is potentially an asteroid out there that can destroy a planet, and it’s been named 2022 AP7.
- The asteroid that has been described as a planet killer, goes around our sun one time, every 5 years.
- Scientists believe that over 90% of all of the asteroids that have the capability of being dangerous to Earth, have already been identified.
“Luckily for us 2022 AP7 “has no chance to hit the Earth currently”, according to Scott Sheppard at the Carnegie Institution for Science.”
