We have found over 70 planets that do not have a star to orbit. We are calling those rouge planets. One of the interesting things about them is that they are not orbiting anything. One issue with it not being close to a star is that it’s hard to get data from it because we use light mostly to get our information about the universe. It’s hard for us to determine what happened because there is no evidence of the planet moving out of the solar system.
Key Takeaways:
- Rouge planets are planets that have been ejected from their solar system.
- So far we have found around 70 planets that do not have a star to orbit.
- They are very hard to image since there is no light to get information from.
“Moreover, rogue planets are usually impossible to image in visible light, much like trying to discern exoplanets that orbit stars several thousand times brighter.”
