Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is the lead sponsor of a bipartisan proposal for studying UFOs. The amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act would create an Anomaly Surveillance and Resolution Office to investigate sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena. In addition, it require regular public reports on such incidents and would create an “aerial and transmedium advisory committee” of experts from NASA, the FAA, and other organizations. Gillibrand expressed concern that military service members who report sightings are not being taken seriously. Co-sponsors of the amendment include Republicans Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham and Roy Blunt.
