At around 2300 light years away we are seeing a star that has been dimmed by almost 75 percent. We believe that it is an exoplanet or some asteroid. The only problem is that it is too random for it to be either of those. One hypotheses is that is is dust from a planet that has been broken apart. It also looks like the object is orbiting a binary star system making it even rarer.
Key Takeaways:
- We have found a strange star has been dimmed by 75 percent.
- It was accidentally found and is now a strange phenomenon we are trying to figure out.
- It is believed to be a dust that is orbiting the sun thinking it to be a planet.
“Firstly, TIC 400799224 isn’t orbiting a single star system. Further examination shows it’s orbiting a binary star system, in which one of the stars pulsates with a 19.77-day period.”
